CONFUCIANISM

A Chinese philosophy based on the ideas of Confucious that emphasized the correct relations among people; became the dominant philosophy of East Asia for two millennia.

S- social

  • concept of ren- "compassion" or "loving" others.
ex. "what you do not wish for yourself, do not do to others"
  • Learn self-restraint by studying and mastering Li- respecting superiors and to conduct his role in society in such a way that he himself is worthy of respect and admiration.
  • Confucious warns those in power that they should not take for granted even the lowliest of their
objects
  • Controlled the chines way of life and order

P- political
  • Confucius's politcal philosophy is also rooted in his belief that a ruler should learn self- discipline, should govern his followers by his own example, and should treat them with love and concern.
  • The political seen was desrcibed as rulers and one thing a ruler should have was a "virtue" this was kind of moral code that every ruler should have. If a ruler had "virtue" then they would be respected by everyone.
  • The rules of the political standpoint are the same as the rules that you should honor you elders.

R- religion
  • Confucianism is a philosophy of social relations, a moral and ethical code designed to promote social stability.
  • Confucious did think of Heaven byt he thought that didn't really matter that much becuase he thought we needed to be focused on right here right now things.

I- intellectual
  • Confucius and his believers were very smart.
  • Education was strongly emphasized.
  • Confucius' goal is to create gentlemen who carry themselves with grace, speak correctly, and demonstrate integrity in all things.
  • Confucius found himself in an era where values were out of joint, so he wanted his followers to be well educated in books and also in values.

T- trade/technology
  • Confucianism did not have much trade or technology because it was a philosophy not a civilization.
  • The countries that are most dominant in the philosophy are China,Proxy-Connection: Japan, and North Korea. These countries had and still have a lot of water trade because thses countries are surrounded by water.
Boats would come to the harbors and buy stuff and by that would here about the philosophy.
  • These countries are advanced in technology such as electonics, trading goods, and has industialized.

E- economic system
  • Confucianism has evovled over the years and some countries still hold this philosophy high on values in some of the Asian countries.
  • Countries like China, Japan, and North Korea still practice what Confucius has said centuries ago.
  • This is an economic system becuase popoular countries still hold true to Confucius' standards.

  • 195 B.C. to Present day (It is still being taught in some Asian countries)



Reason For Fall?


  • Confucianism has not fallen yet becuase it is still practiced in countries but, it has decreased in China becuase the rise of Communism.


==Basic beliefs==

1. Love and Caring
  • one should love their parents, love their family, love their friends, love the whole world.

2. Sympathy and Tolerance
  • People should help each other, tolerate other people's mistakes. Do not force people to do thins that you yourself does not want to do. Confucious promoted teaching to everyone regardless of their status.

3. Respect the Law, Rule and Regulation
  • Society is built on rules, people should respect these rules. Students should respect their teachers, children should respect their parents, young should respect the elder.

Impact


Many coutries in ASia took up this philosophy as a relgion and some even hold Confusious worthy of a god. Korea is the most Confucious country in the world, however the phrase and principle "Respect your elders" has become a belief around much of the world.


Unique?
Confucianism influenced many other religions and principles that are still practiced today.
It was a religion that was not forced upon people and yet spread throughout the worold.
